New blogage, word.

Today I wrote my first letter to the editor! It was in response to this weekly article about tennis. Jon Wertheim, who writes it every week, invited people to make suggestions how to fix professional tennis. Here is what I wrote:

It's a shame that most Americans don't watch professional tennis, but can you really blame them? Most people don't understand how the game is scored and no one has ever bothered to explain it before a match. Everyone understands the playoff system, but someone who doesn't watch tennis on a regular basis has no idea what a master's series is or what the difference is between it or a challenger. So how can the ATP and the WTA expect to attract new viewers?

They need to re-brand tennis as a sport everyone can watch and understand, and emphasize how fair it is compared to other sports (the ranking system, Hawk Eye vs. the BCS equation). And get some announcers that weren't former players. They make tennis seam like an elite club no one else can join.

So before changing the Davis Cup rules and adding on court coaching to fix professional tennis, the ATP and the WTA need to get people to actually care about fixing tennis in the first place.

In other news, I actually got pretty good grades this semester. I'm currently at home in McAllen, and Rocko has been acting cute as ever.

Martha and her brother are about to move to the most over rated city in the world, Austin, next month. It totally sucks losing a roomate, but I'm moving into this outrageously awesome house. 4 bedrooms, 3 and a half baths, and an 800 sq foot game room. The kitchen has an island. There's a 4 car garage. Circular front drive way. A perfect place for a basketball pole. The master bath has a heart shaped jacuzzi. It's 400 a month per person, about $30 less than what I'm paying right now. 15 minute walk from school. And the best part is, no cats. So D and M can visit now, and be quite comfortable. The game room, where we will be spending most of our time, is going to be decorated with a Mavs theme. We're getting framed action shots of the entire line up, and having a corner for the retired all stars. Joel is bring his big screen TV. Alex has this really pretty bar. We may never leave the house.

And I am outraged that Dwyane Wade is Sports Illustrated's sportsmen of the year. Even if you don't keep in mind the fact that he got more shitty calls called in his favor than any other player in the NBA and that his team is totally sucking right now (7th in the East. Keep in mind none of the teams in the East are at 500 yet) I could still think of several more deserving athletes. At the top of that list is of course Roger Federer. Even without his Grand Slam ranking points he still would have been number 1 at the end of the year. He only lost 5 of his 96 matches this year, 4 to the same person. SI is trippin.

And if you haven't already figured it out, RSS is the best thing to happen to the internet since celebrity gossip blogs. Damn that Lindsay Lohan!

It's very cold.

So yesterday I was waiting outside my class to start when my friend joel walks up and says, hey I got 4 tickets to the game you wanna go? So of course I went! Dampier schooled Ben Wallace with 14 points and 13 rebounds, and we shot 100% from the free throw. Afterwards we went to the underground bar that looks out on the practice court. While we were there we saw a bunch of the Bulls and Devin Harris, Mbanga, and Avery Johnson twice! I was in the bathroom when Mark Cuban walked by. But they told me he was holding a salad.

Anyway, I got really cold last night. It's like 42 right now.

********edit

I'm really not that bad a writer, but for some reason when I go back and read my blogs I think I sound illiterate. Maybe I should stop writing the way I talk.

Mavs 2-4

Okay so the Mavs had a ruff start this season. They'll make the play offs for sure, but if they keep blowing games they wont get home court advantage. Those of us that are not fair-weather fans (and Dallas fans are VERY fair-weather, I've noticed) say they'll go 78-4 this season.

The only sports team I go for that hasn't disappointed me in the past few months is the Clippers. The Steelers are sucking, not that I regularly watch football (UT also recently lost a game, even though I care even less about college football than the NFL), the Mavs lost their first 4 games and Nadal hasn't been doing well. The Clippers are 5-1 and until like last year were one of the worst teams in the NFL for years. What's worse is they beat the Mavs and some people thought I was rooting for them. Sigh.

Anyway, the last time I went to Albany I forgot to put my gas cap back on after I gassed up. Well I did the same thing this time. Ugh, and those things cost like 15 USD.

Enough blogging, it's kitty time!

Blow spurs, blow

The Mavs season opener against the spurs is looming. I'm really hoping for a smack-down.

I wonder if the mavs/spurs rivalry is as intense in san antonio. Most people up here take it personally when people wear spurs gear. When we were waiting in line for the scrimmage the mavs had at UNT two girls walked by in spurs shirts and got booed by like 300 people. Including me.

Even when the spurs were really good a few years ago I couldn't take them seriously not only because they were from san antonio, a city I've never been particularly fond of, but they had the absolute worst colors. Remember that south-western motif? Yeah, very tacky.

The Heat (who (or is it whom? I can never remember) I also hate) got spanked by the bulls today. The Bulls!!! The worst season opener ever for a championship defending team.

The new season of the LaBrons has started. You know, those badass Nike commercials with LaBron James as 4 different people. I do love that LaBron.

But enough about basketball, on to the kitties!!! It seems like White Kitty gets dumber every day. He started eating plastic. We have also noticed that Black Kitty is much better at playing with the catnip tennis balls we bought. He can jump up to my waist and paw it across a room pretty fast, but White Kitty just can't seem to get the hang of it.

When we first got the kitties, I was more smitten with white kitty's good looks, soft fur, and willingness to cuddle. But now I favor black kitty's craftiness. Black kitty will cuddle, but on his terms, which makes the cuddles more special. As Martha remarked the other day, white kitty doesn't care where the cuddles come from, as long as they keep coming.

:(

The country omelette burned down!! They had the illist biscuits and gravey and grilled cheese. Martha Jenna and I used to skip class and drink coffee and smoke cigerettes my junior year there. Of course I got permission to leave class early and the security gaurds looked the other way. Anyway, the Mavs were picked by sports illustrated as the western conferance champs, with the shitty spurs 3rd. Hopefully the Clippers (or as I call them, the Clippys) will get past the second round this year.

Christmas list coming soon.

From Roger Federer's blog:
Like probably everyone else, the first place where I go after getting up is the bathroom. This is quite an experience here in Japan as they have the best toilets in the world. You could sit on the toilet for hours! The seat is warm, there is a water spray…Toto, the makers of this special toilet seat, are geniuses. The toilet in my bathroom is like a space shuttle, there are so many buttons that I am always afraid to press the wrong one. I definitely want to buy one for my apartment!

I thought it was kinda weird that he would write about using the toilet. Based on this information, is it wrong of me to assume that he prefers to take his craps in the morning? And he lives in an apartment?

I just may hate myself in the morning

Lately I've been having trouble sleeping at night because I've been taking naps. They're so hard to resist when I get home from class.
So after getting back from class today and martha and I decide to watch a movie, but after we get a snack. We like to watch arrested development when we eat though and afterwards I decided to "rest my eyes" on the couch. This was at 5. Well the movie never got watched because my friend Joel called me two hours later and mentioned how he fell asleep at 8 a few days ago and woke up refreshed. So I decided it would be a good idea to just go to sleep for the night. Now it's 10:30 and I can't go back to sleep.
Martha just said she could get a degree in laying down with kitties, because that's all she ever wants to do.

I hate being sick

It seems as though the cool weather has brought with it lots of pollen and stuff that everyone is allergic to, because most of my friends are sick.

My right lymphnode is swollen to the size of a pecan. I'm not sure if it will go away on its own or not. I'm not really congested or anything. But it does hurt.

And the kitties have taken to shitting in the living room. It's really starting to piss me off.

This is what I do when I can't sleep. I'm planning on leaving it on people's myspace when they do something gay.

I decided to move to london for six months right after I graduate. I thought it would be cool to just find a job in advertising and up and move there permanently, but that's not possible because it's really hard to get a work visa. But there's this program called BUNAC that hooks you up with a work visa for six months but you have to do it as a student or within 4 months of graduation. And the website says it also looks good on a resume.

I'm also gonna enter a contest to direct an ad for the super bowl. It's for cheverolet and the theme is gonna be centered around this rap song called peanut butter jelly. All I need to do is write a script and do a story board.

Kitties

I had to get a blog for my PR class. However, when I signed up to create an account, my online alias, plingyplang, was taken! I went to the plingyplang.blogspot link only to realize I myself had created a blog in june of 2003 and forgot about it.

Here are some pictures of the kitties. Their names are Bevo and Gonzo, but we mainly just call them black kitty and white kitty. Or Paul Wall and Mike Jones.

White Kitty wonders, are America's kids pushed too hard?

White Kitty and Martha look alike.

They're brothers just like felix and oscar. Only more passive-agressive.
